It seems that while the bureaucrats talk and the politicians yak, all the talk in the world doesn't protect those who need it.
A 90 year old woman was struck by an N Judah LRV today and this whole thing could have been avoided if MUNI and the MTA had simply done what they said they were going to do a year ago.
This is unacceptable. How many more people need to get hurt at Irving/9th and Judah/9th and elsewhere until someone gets the message.
Not cool, San Francisco. Not cool. Oh and you just gave Nate Ford a big

An Open Letter to Mayor Newsom:
Dear Mayor Newsom:
Right now life must be pretty good for you. You're going to get re-elected, you don't have to go to nasty debates, in fact , you're the envy of most politicians this year since you've got it good.
However, some of your friends are doing something very nasty. And frankly, it's time for you to use your charm, good will, and your poll numbers to kick some butt, for the rest of us in The City.
I'm talking, of course, about the fact that there's this
Proposition A on the ballot that is

Well it's Day 12 of our initiative to try and get some answers on safety on the N Judah line, starting at the intersections of Irving/9th and Judah/9th. There's a way to make these intersections safer for seniors, the disable, pedestrians, cars, and MUNI, and make MUNI run faster. We were promised a fix due in the first quarter of 2007. And yet the problems remain! So again we're prodding the Powers That Be to answer why it is this is allowed to continue.
Also, someone should really check out these guest bloggers, such as Brooklyn DA Charlie Hynes. That guy

As promised, I am going to continue bringing up the issue of safety and MUNI reliability on Irving/9th and Judah/9th on the N-Judah line until something is done to address the promises made in the past. (You can read my previous entries for more details).
I am also now inviting Mayor Newsom and others who read here at ActLocally to
participate in an online discussion about the charter amendmetns to reform MUNI. If you're for them, tell the readers why. If you're not, please say why, and what you're doing instead to fix MUNI.
Loyal Readers of the N Judah Chronicles

(Originally posted at
The N Judah Chronicles)
Hopefully, you had a fun Fourth of July holiday! The weather was great!
However, as I was out and about on all these sunny days we had, a problem which won't go away, despite everyone's attempts to ignore it, reared its ugly head as it does most every day - the unsafe intersections at Irving/9th and Judah/9th.
Right now, the status quo is simple:
no one wins. Every day you see plenty of near-misses as N-Judah trains try to make a left turn going outbound, or trains trying desperately to sync with the traffic

Many of you might have missed the Mayor's Town Hall Meeting on MUNI. You can read about it at
the N Judah blog or at the Chronicle.
However, there are 2 big questions, one Central Subway related, one N-Judah related that didn't make it into the mix that we sure could use some answers for:
-Right now, as far as I can tell, there is no push to order more cars so that when the Central Subway opens up, MUNI will have enough rail cars to serve the new line and the existing ones. Given that the maker of these cars,

Big news, folks! Starting tomorrow, June 30th, the N-Judah once again goes all the way to AT&T Park and Caltrain, just as God intended. For those of you going to the Giants game tomorrow, you can
disregard previous bulletins and board the N like you used to for all those times you went to the ballpark, pre-T Third calamity.
If you're not going to the game tomorrow, why not
drop by the Mayor's meeting in North Beach and find a creative way to cut through the chatter and let him what you think should be done to
